LifeLEMA in the European Geosciences Union (EGU) 2019

The EGU General Assembly is the largest geoscience meeting in Europe with thousands of scientists and many topics discussed such as plastic pollution or natural disasters. The event will take place in the Austria Center Vienna in Vienna, Austria, from the 6th of April and till the 12th of April 2019.

LifeLEMA project is going to take part in this event with an oral presentation and a poster about the work done throughout the three years of the project. In the oral presentation, the work on monitoring litter from rivers using advanced technology will be introduced; while the poster session will be used for the description of our work regarding floating macro litter on the coastal waters in the southeast of the Bay of Biscay.

We are really excited to take part in this assembly and particularly on the 8th April, which is plastics day! It will be the first time that the plastic pollution topic will be discussed at the assembly during an entire day.  The debate will address the spreading of marine litter due to ocean flows and  what can we do to react now.
